I have two mature axolotls and they have not laid eggs, any tips or pointers...
:D:D

Separating them and feeding them up well will help. After a few weeks just put them together and they should spawn, it always works for me at least. Dropping the temperature a few degrees always helps too.

You might also want to try a bigger tank. It looks as if you're keeping them both in a large fish bowl. This is definitely not adequate size for two axolotls.

On second look.... they both look male.

Oh, that ld explain some things and yes i know their tank is too small they are getting a new one either today or soon.

Um...I have to agree with Kaysie, they do both look male. Hmmm..some how I don't thing that breeding will work:eek:

haha yeah good point it would be scary if they had babies.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
