I've actually been here for a while and posted once about my older Axie, but have never had the chance to get on and introduce my now two axies =)

I've had my axolotl for about six months now, I believe. Been through much drama, as when I first purchased him, the pet store wasn't all that helpful. :/ Now he's a fat happy camper. ;)

Meet Melman!

And Po :)

I've got a unisex name set up for that one, as it's so young, I can't sex it yet. Very active little thing! I wish I could have them together, but he/she is much too small yet. Anything that comes by Melman's mouth is pretty much food. <laughs>

Let me know what you think!

Your axolotls are very cute. But the size of your gravel worries me. Gravel of this size can be swallowed (accidentally or on purpose). If it is swallowed, it has a chance of getting stuck in the digestive tract, causing impaction. This can actually lead to death!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
