Waterdog Identification

Hello, I got a waterdog for christmas. I use to keep tiger salamanders. First one I got when I was a kid, I saved it from a bait shop it was a yellow and black one. I've had a few others since then all of them were of the gray variety. Anyways I've never had one that was still a waterdog, I was just wondering if the different sub species of tiger salamander look different when they still have their gills. Its colored similar to the gray ones I've owned growing up but at the same time it has that generic lake bottom camoflauge going on. I was hoping to get myself one of the yellow ones when I got a new Tiger Sally but a friend suprised me with an awesome gift.

Regardless of what sub species it is I am very happy to own another Tiger.

When I say yellow and black I am refering to the Barred sub species. Just looked it up, its been so long since I've had any I forgot all the names but the gray ones.

If the tiger larva is from Oklahoma then the chances are it's a Barred Tiger.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
