I have had a western lesser siren about five years now and it recently had a seizure/stroke. It started to wiggle iits tail then it started to twitch like a mosquitoe larvae. it stopped moving and when i went to touch it it started to move through the tank like a torpedo. it didnt move much for a week and now its like a vegetable. Its been about four months and the siren is pitiful. i have to hand feed it and it doesnt move from his hide because if it does it floats upside down. i have seen it at rest when it gets out of its hide kind of looking tied up and floating. my sirens legs also dangle up. he cant use them. I love it to pieces but dont want to keep a semi-vegetable. What should I do?

Hey, I have the same problem with my siren salamander. Did you ever figure out what was wrong with him.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
