Hey just recieved 2 of these, there juvinile/sub adults and tiny, a lot smaller than i expected (im used to ambystoma and salamandra species) so I'm no longer feel bad about the 2.5 gallon temporary tank I have for them.

this is my first jump into the world of lungless salamanders, i've always been interested in them but heard they were for experienced keepers only so now i have the experience I've taken the plunge.

i'll get some piccys up later :D

the larger one

the same one

the 2 together

the only clear one of the smaller 1 and yes that is a 5 pence piece

Great looking salamanders. My longicauda have to be one of my most favorite lungless salamanders that I own. I hope you have great luck with them.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
