Do axolotls get lonley?
Someone on youtube messeged me saying my axolotl looks bad (which was stress from waterflow) and that he was probably lonley?!

I thought they did better on their own :S

Hi Moomin,

An axolotl will live well alone or in the company of other axolotls.

An axolotl is not capable of feeling human emotions such as 'loneliness'.

This species doesn't normally hang out in groups, and some individuals can be downright nasty to others. They do very well on their own. The person on youtube is anthropomorphizing - attributing human characteristics to animals. We all do this sometimes, but some people get a bit carried away with it!

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
