I'm new to the whole axolotl experience, and just wanted to ask what the best settings are to raise an axolotl in?
I have not gotten one yet, simply becuase I cannot find any and need to find out where I can order them from or have them shipped to. Do you know if any specialty pet stores may order them in? Or is it best to do so online?

Thanks

Welcome to the site. Check this link for information on care requirements for axolotls. Also check the for sale section of the forum, there is usually some for sale in there.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
