Hello my name is John. I live in Orlando, Florida. I was born in the Philipines.

I have been keeping pets for quite a long time. At the moment I have reptiles, birds, fish, small mammals, and I've just started to think about amphibians. I once had a fire belly newt, but that didn't turn out well at all. Now I'm willing to try again the right way. With an almost cycled tank and lots of knowledge, I think I'll be ready to try again in a month.

The salamander I'm thinking of starting with is an axolotl. Seems like they are the
most available to me, have a nice personality, and are somewhat cute!

Wish me luck as I venture into the world of axolotls!!!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
