Hi Guys,

I'm looking at starting up a bit of a breeding project for my Axies - I've just bought a huge tank, stay tuned for a DIY thread on constructing the stand for it - and I'm trying to find a source for Daphnia in Australia. I haven't had any success so far and I'm starting to think that I might not be able to get them at all here!
Does anyone know if/where in the great southern land you can get these little suckers or their eggs?

Mail order? Black market (kidding)?

Hi Madfrankie,

There is one rather reliable company i know of that services the whole of australia. Orders can also be placed online. I shall private message you the site due to forum rules.

Cheers.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
