Please help me... salamandra salamandra looks ill, as if she's having a respiratory failure. I don't know why, she was letargic last weeks and looked fine just yesterday. What can I do???

Can´t really help with such little information.
All i can say is that keeping it cool will probably help.
What exactly are the symptoms? Also, can you describe the conditions in which you keep it?

On a side note...i see you are italian, and Salamandra salamandra is native to your country. Are you allowed to keep native species? Most european countries have strict laws against it...fines are quite high. Is it WC? because that IS ilegal for sure....
Also, knowing if it´s WC will help clarifying what the problem might be.
Sorry for the speech, but it´s a matter of concern.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
