I'm getting an axolotl soon and I'm just wondering how many times a day/week you should feed them? I have looked around and I can't find anywhere that tells me how many times I should feed them.

It depends on how big the axolotl is and what temperature the tank is. Babies need to be fed every day, juveniles every 2 or 3 days and adults every 3 or 4 days. That is how I work it with mine anyway. In the Summer they need feeding more often as their metabolism will be higher. In the Winter the adults were down to once a week feeds.
An easy guide is to look at the size of your axolotls tummy, it should be as wide as the head.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
