Hi,
I'd like to give my axolotl a bit more of a varied diet, more than just salmon pellets, and was wondering if anybody knows of a good site I could get live food from?
A decent place in Scotland that sells good live food, would also be useful.

Thanks in advance!

If i´m not mistaken Arbroath is a portuary city, wich means there HAVE to be some bait shops around, which means you should be able to find earthworms easily. And, since earthworms are the best food, you should probably look into that.

There are no fishing or bait shops in Arbroath. If there were, I wouldn't have been posting.

Also, the area I live in is surrounded by farms, using numerous pesticides and other chemicals, and I'd rather not risk feeding him earthworms that have a risk of contamination. Chemicals are also used in my own, and the surrounding gardens.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
