Default Leaves

Just a quick question: What is the best way to clean live dried leaves for use in tank? Thanks.

Default Re: Leaves

It depends on what type of tank you are using them in. For a terrestrial tank a rinse and freeze is sufficient. Soaking the leaves overnight, then microwaving them for 30 seconds works well too.

For aquatic use the microwave method works well.

Boiling the leaves for five minutes is probably the best bet though.

Are leaves recommended for aquatic newt set ups?

Default Re: Leaves

For certain soft water caudates like amphiuma and sirens, yes.
For true newts, I personally do not know of any that would require leaf litter in the water.
