Hello there. Name's Xizen.

Um.. I'm pretty much new here. I saw on Animal Planet about axolotls and saw recently at an aquarium store that sold them for pets. I just thought they're pretty cute (esp the albino ones) so I thought I start looking them up and learn about them.

I found this site thru another site. So here I am :)

Oh and I'm also a fan of frogs. =)

Sweet! another one hooked! ;) I am glad you are getting involved they are adorable... hope you enjoy... let me know if you have any questions

i did greatwtehunter, thats where i found this forum ;)

thanks punkamph. haha yeah.. they're definitely cute. i'm more hooked to the albino ones though.

been busy with finals week next week.. so haven't been looking around lately. hopefully soon after finals ^_^

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
