Hi, I'm Shannon, new to this forum, but loving this website overall! I currently have 2 axolotls - Spynx - a wildtype male and Tut - a golden male. Looking to find them some company in their 55 gal home. I also have a Siren Larcetina - Slimer, a gorgeous ornate pacman Atila - Jabba, a brown pacman - Jabba, a Pixie - Phat B*st*rd, a baby albino pacman - Silas, 3 paddletail newts, 4 firebellied toads, tortoises, turtles, fish, a beardie, a mali uromastyx, and a diamond back terrapin - Yep, I'm obsessed. Good thing I don't have a larger house! :ha:

These guys are just as much my kids as my 3 children! Looking forward to upload some photos to the gallery and thank everyone who has posted to the gallery - you guys convinced me that I had to add axolotls to my brood!

Thanks for reading this - look forward to meeting you guys!

Shannon

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
