Would really appreciate members having a look at my picture and letting me know what you think. This is my girl axie and she appears to have a fungal growth on her gill. She also has a milky eye, the problem is it seems really agressive and to be getting bigger all the time!

:( I am giving her a salt bath once a day in a ltr of water with 2 tsps of salt and in between she is living in the fridge. I am worried that it is not improving and don't know what to do next! Any help would be greatly recieved.

Hi
I agree with Shizeric up those salt baths, try to get rid of that fungus asap!
It can spread really quick taking the gills with it.

Good luck.
Mel

Thanks guys i will do that asap and post back what happens.

Just wanted to say thanks for your advice guys. She shed the infection a few days after i posted my last reply on here and is now happily back in her normal tank  so thanks for all your help!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
