hey,
I bought my baby axie girl last month,
she was in a tank with an other axie in the store and got in a fight and lost a leg..
this grew back but..
at her right back leg she got 5 toes and the left back leg she got 4 toes
at her front right leg she got 4 toes and her front left leg she got 3 toes
she also missing a piece in her tail..
I love her the way she is ( :D) but is this normal?

Thanx!

Hi,

Yes, even though axolotls are very capable of growing back their parts, sometimes the parts don't grow back normally. So, just your little one even more unique than you thought! ;)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
