I'm very interested in aquscaping. The tanks are so peaceful and zen-like I would love one in my livingroom. Anyone got any good sites og blogs about the subject? I would like peoples experiences, mistakes made, lessons learned and how-to's
Especially if you know about aquascpaing with grass it would be awesome :D

I'd look up Amano Takashi.

...Not that I can help with anything other than inspirational pics. I am death to all plants. I mean, I've killed algae. So I can only do iwagumi-esque things. :(

At the bookstore yesterday, I saw a fish magazine with a large article about him. ...Don't remember what magazine though, sorry. D:

Hi there!

I know what you mean about killing plants - me too! So far I have managed not to kill marimo moss balls or java moss so maybe you could consider those. I have also been assured that java fern is nearly indestructible but I haven't put it to the test yet.

I don't know if you plan on having an axolotl in this setup or not, but if so, grass and axolotls are not usually a good mix as they tend to dig it up - so I have read.

Here are some other sites to check out CC Aquatic setups and Axolotl safe Aquascaping. The latter includes safe/unsafe rocks and some recommended plants. :D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
