they are 10 weeks, they have been separate for 6 weeks but i am thinking about putting them in a tank together. will they be ok? x

How many Axolotls, how large are they, and what size tank are you putting them in?

At that size they should be fine, but they grow quickly and juveniles are especially aggressive. That tank is very small and should not be used for too long.

i understand, what age would you suggest separation?

i am only keeping one axolotl, so i will change the tank as soon as he needs a bigger place! thanks for this help :)

If they are separated now...why put them together if you are going to separate them again?

at the moment they are in separate containers, about 1l,
but i have 2 tanks and wonder if i can put 2 axolotls in each. so they all have more space. :) understand?

They should be fine housed together as long as you keep them well fed. :D

Good to hear. i will try 2 together. see what happens!
i am very nervous! :(

I keep mine together in tubs, and seperate them by size.

The mostly get on fine together, although even if well fed you may get a few accidents and injuries.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
