West Virginia rock crevice behind McDonalds

How did that bearded chap get in the crevice in the first place?

Based on looks I'd say it is Plethodon electromorphus. Then again, it could also be Plethodon hoffmani. A county name and/or a belly pattern can tell you for sure.

Bill is the field herping expert. I think he has a belly shot of the salamander and probably has a better idea of the local than I do. I was as impressed with the flora we saw as I was with the fauna.

After talking with Bill yesterday on the phone and getting the locality info, that is indeed Plethodon electromorphus.

Thorninmyside:Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation+1

Clareclare:Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?+1
