HELP!! We have a very sick axie. She is very bloated and I suspect she swallowed a pebble - but it's been a while now. When I first noticed I just thought she had eaten a lot, but after a couple of days and her continuing to get bigger I realised it wasn't that. I quickly changed the substrate and continued to monitor her. She kept eating and wasn't particularly worried - but slowly continued to bloat. After reading up on the forums I fed her up hoping she would regurgitate whatever was blocking her up - but no luck. When she got to the stage where she would stay in her tunnel so she didn't float I read up on the forums again and decided to fridge her. She has now been in the fridge for approx. 2 weeks and has still not pooped. I am desperate to help her but can't afford a huge vet bill.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
