Hello everyone, I've been a newt keeper since I was 7 years old, and have recently gotten back into the hobby after my red eared slider turtle kicked the bucket and I re-purposed his aquarium for some petstore Paramesotriton. I'm now a full blown newt addict within the past few months, I've recently acquired in my collection with the help of several members of this forum:

2Paramesotriton chinensis juvenile chinese warty newts (CB)
2Paramesotriton hongkongensishttp://www.caudata.org/forum/../cc/species/Paramesotriton/P_hongkongensis.shtmlhttp://www.caudata.org/forum/../cc/species/Paramesotriton/P_hongkongensis.shtml juvenile hong kong warty newts (CB)
3 Misc. Paramesotriton adults (Wild caught pet store)
5 Cynops ensicauda juvenileGold dust newts (CB)
1 Cynops orientalis juvenile oriental firebelly (Wild caught pet store)
2 Neurergus kaiseri juvenile Kaiser's spotted newt (CB)
1 Salamadra Salamandra Fire salamander (she's gravid!) (CB)

I still can't pick a favorite as their all so fun to watch! I never realized it was so easy to obtain captive bred newts form all over the world via this forum!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
