It was sort of an impulsive buy, I must admit. When I saw his cute little face at the reptile show, I just couldn't say no!

I guess you could call it love at first sight. :D

Congratulations :D

Omg so adorable :3 thats just a transportation jar tho right? btw how much was he? :D i got 2 wild typpes

Yes, that was just the transportation jar. He/she is now in a huge plastic bin.

He/she was only $20.

He/she is also eating a mass amount of pellets. :D

Nice colour.
But I would never give 20 dollars for a small one like that.
Here in Belgium you can get those for 2 euro.

Gorgeous!!! I need a melanoid to complete my tank lol this one is so cute!!!

I had to pay $50.00 for mine!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
