Default Care of Axolotl Eggs and Dapnia Questions

Hi there.

My name is Michelle, and i am from new zealand.

i have recently bought 25 Axolotl eggs. They are at the stage where you can kind of start to see their shape (only about a week or two old). Their growth has been slow because it's very cold here right now!! (it's winter in this part of the world).

I am currently keeping the eggs in a bowl until they hatch, then i will put them in a tank. Do i need to change the water before the eggs hatch? I was thinking of doing it just before they do, so they're not in yuck water?

Also, i was given a whole lot of dapnia in old water with a bit of lettuce in the bag to help feed the daphia. i was wondering how often i need to change the water? i have a bucket of water that is in the process of aging at the moment but it has only been like that for a couple of days and won't be anywhere green enough by the time the Axies hatch. Does the water have to be green for the daphnia? It's not very practical for me to keep the bucket outdoors unfortunately. i could try, but it might be a little tricky.

Thanks,

Michelle

Heres is some links to a very helpful site,
it has everything you will need to know, including a picture diagram of embryo stages. as for the waster, i don't think the change will matter unless the water quality is horrible, as long as it is dechlorinated water. as for Daphnia im not to sure, most people recommend BBS, but if u have Daphnia already then go with that. umm thats about all the info i can provide, hope it helps

I would change the water on the eggs regularly, every day or two. You are using a dechlorinator to treat tap water, right?

I give my daphnia partial water changes regularly, although some people say that they don't do this. What size of container are they in? You can certainly use well-aged water to change some of their water.
