Hi, does anyone know which UK zoos keep A.andersoni ? because i would quite like to go and have a look at them.

Chester zoo :)

Their tank is designed so you can see them as their hides are facing toward where you can view :)

Lol, defeats the point of having a hide(unless the humans cant be seen through the glass) but good to know, thanks

I think its just to allow us humans to see them, my tanks are the same but i also give them ample hiding spaces that they cannot be seen in, however they seem to love that pot more than anything else in the tank... need to get another ones as they fight over it picky lotl's xD

Are they hiding? I find this species to be very active during the day even when they havnt noticed me in the room :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
