Hi all. I think i have a poorly axie. Got her on wednesday gone. Water tests were ammonia 0. Nitrite 0. Nitrate 5ppm. Ph 7.6 and temp is 17c. She has been refusing any food i offer her and is looking rather on the thin side. Wondering if it was constipation i put her in the fridge last night. Checked her this morning and found the white stuff with 3 brown balls in. I use sand as a substrate. She is showing a bit of stress with the curled end of tail. The other axolotl i got at the same time is fine taking food and is quite active. Any advice would a gladly recieved!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
