Got our axolotl a couple of weeks ago and noticed he had a broken arm, noticed a lot of people saying to cut off their arm but its healed and isn't annoying him, he can't use it the best but he still can make around the tank happy enough. should i just leave him?

Thank

If this is something that is fully healed and not a health issue, I'd just leave it.

Amputating and allowing it to grow back can result in another deformed limb - regenerated limbs don't always grow back "right".

Yea that what i thought no point in annoying when he healed but thanks :D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
