Hey.

Got 2 lotls, one of them after swimming floats on one side (like freezes on leafs and stuff or goes up) or laying on the ground with one side touching the tank wall :) it does look very funny, still am a bit worried. The other lotl is fine and healthy. Both seem alright though.

For the past two days they both have been always hungry, swimming to me as son as I come close and asking for food, although I do feed them well (prawns and bloodworms, total about a size of a head every 3 days).

To me they seem a bit too active, but ... they do lay on the ground as well.

This side swimming is a bit worrying.

Any ideas? May it be gas or something?

PS: water conditions are good, everything seems fine.

Does he always float on the same side?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
