I found this collection of pictures of caudate skulls (and some pics of spines), and thought I'd share it.

I'd like to have a go at amphibian taxidermy. I've offered to preserve any dead specimens and give them to a researcher at the Institute of Zoology in London for scientific study and/or conversation pieces, and I'm trying to figure out how to get some denatured ethanol that would be suitable for pickling them (methylated spirits contains methyl violet, which I think would dye the specimens). There's an authorisation process for getting it, and I'll have to contact Revenue and Customs about it.

The skulls give a view of the dentition and of bony tooth-like projections deep inside the mouth that aren't obvious from examining animals that still have their flesh.
