Hi, everyone. I have been discussing with a friend recently about what animals are legal to own. He lives in New Jersey and I live in Washington, and it seems like a lot of things are illegal over there. I have been looking at ordering some Chinese Fire Bellies from Reptile City next week, but the discussion got me thinking about if this type of newt is legal to own in Washington. I have looked all over the internet and I can't seem to figure it out. Can anybody help?

Thank you!

Wow, my apologies for the redundancy. I ended up finding a sheet at a pet store that mentioned it. Cynops orientalis is legal to own in Washington.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
