Hi there! I am new to the forums and I am looking to network with some axolotl owners in my area (Kent County) to hopefully get a few eggs and start raising some babies. I know there is a shop in Grandville called Blue Fish Aquarium that has been recently getting Axolotls from a local and I would be interested in speaking with that person as well. Whereabouts do all of you other Michiganders hail from?

You can always have eggs shipped. Most people do it that way.

Anyway, I'm a former Michigander, so I don't really count! I did sell most of my axolotls to Preuss Pets in Lansing. They usually have some.

Hi Dr0gr1n, I sent you a PM but I am not sure if you got it - I would be interested in some larvae that you have and if you have any photos of them I would love to see them!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
