Hi everyone

We recently introduced our fire salamanders to a luxury new pad - a giant outdoor viv. Unfortunately one of them found their way into the pond and couldn't get out :( I fished him out but am not sure how long he had been in there and thought he was a gonner. Over the course of a few hours he seemed to recover - first of all taking occasional breathes, then moving his head, then his back legs and tail. We hoped he would fully recover but it is now three days later and he still does not have proper use of his front legs. Does anyone have any ideas of anything we can do to help him?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
