Blind Honkonensis

I just have a quick question..I acquired a trio of honkonensis..they are in good health except that one of the females is completely blind from both eyes..my question is if its still possible that she will be able to breed??

Probably. Although if it's a congenital issue, breeding will just perpetuate the blindness in offspring.

There is no reason why it should, a priori, interfere with breeding but as Kaysie says it would be necessary to stablish the origin of the condition because it´s definitely not something you´d want to perpetuate in the offspring.

Im not exactly sure ..I have to ask the person I got them from. So it could technically pass on to the offspring...hmm wasn't aware of that possibility..

It could if it's a genetic abnormality and not say, from an injury.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
