Hi all,

Just wanted to share that I found a 5 inch Plethodon vehuculum! This species doesn't usually get this large, in my experience with an average of 33/4 inches total length, but this female ( or at least I think it was a female ) was almost 5 inches. Yes, I have to admit, it was about a sixteenth of an inch short of 5 inches, but I decided to round up a bit ;)
I have been wanting to find a five incher for a while now, kind of a goal of mine. And finally, after finding some that were very close ( 41/2 and 43/4 inches ) I finally found one. Yes!!!

Here are the pictures. Enjoy! -Seth

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
