I’ve noticed your tank doesn’t seem to have many places where Frankie can hide, maybe add a hide or two. Axies, from what I have observed, tend to feel more comfy when they have a little dark cozy place they go to. Also, is that light always on? Axolotls can be stressed out by bright lights. Maybe add some plants to provide some shade for Frankie. Live plants are preferable because they can help oxygenate the water and also help reduce nitrate levels, but live plants can also be a bit tricky to care for so if you aren’t up to it, silk aquarium plants can also be a good way to go. Thanks for the advice, I am looking into finding some appropriate hidey holes for Frankie and I currently have one being delivered to me from EBay. No, the light is not always on. I only turned it on because it was night and the room was dark. I used to have some live plants which were attached to the little skull in the corner (don’t ask why I have an obsession with skulls ) but bits of the plant kept coming off and getting stuck in the filter, so I had to take it out. I was thinking of getting plastic plants but silk plants are probably a better idea .
(Don’t worry, I’m not the most experienced axolotl keeper either )
For the hides if you haven't got any yet, you can use a terracotta pot or some pvc pipe that's what in have in my tank and my axies love to hide in them, just make sure it's big enough so frankie won't get stuck.
