Axolotl egg - cell differentiation

This is a gorgeous photo! It looks like a photo in an embryology textbook!

Axolotl egg - cell differentiation

I took a developmental biology lab last semester where we took photos documenting the development of Xenopus eggs. This looks just like the 16 cell stage of the Xenopus embryo. It even has the same pigmentation. The only difference is that the embryo sits in the center of the fertilization envelope in Xenopus. I should post my photos from my lab for comparison. It would be interesting to compare the development of the two species that from this photo look like they have quite a similar embryonic stage, but are quite different creatures all together.

This picture was a lucky shot, taken in the tank with hobbyists equipment (Canon EOS 300D, 60mm Macro). I only saw these structures at my PC-Monitor.
