I caught a small newt/sally in a slight swift stream it was very small still had its gills and the tail faned out at the very end It was a molty brown color with a light brown belly any ideas what it couldnt have been.

its impossible to guess without knowing the area you got it(state)

it would also help if you told us the length, and count the number of toes on the front and hind feet

I live in central tennessee. I let it go shortly after but i do have a pic but probly wont be very helpful. not sure how to creat a url for the pics

You can add the picture to your post.
When you write your post, scroll down to the next block, "Additional Options," and click on "manage attachments." It'll take you through ("Browse"), just make sure your pictures don't exceed the limits you see written there. Once they're uploaded, you can click on "preview post" to make sure you have them the way you want, then click on "Submit reply," and your picture will be in your post!

If you have any trouble, you can PM me.

Well....good job uploading the pics!
But unfortunately I think they're too blurry for any kind of ID.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
