Well, they're not salamanders but they were so cute. We went on our first kayaking trip of the season and saw lots and lots of basking turtles.
1. Look at the first picture. A two headed turtle!!!!!
2. Well, ok, just two turtles side by side. But that's quite a picture, huh?
3. That leech was stuck on so hard, my bf couldn't even pull it off! it stretched and stretched till it slipped out of his hand, three tries!
4. Turtles on a log.

Graet pics of painted turtles

I have to say, the last picture, that pond is a beautiful place to visit. Thanks for sharing your photos. Huh, if the leech was that hard to pull, wonder if it got through the whole darned plastron to get to some blood supply.

New York, one of my top three favorite kayaking places, not too far from where I live (almost an hour). That's where my user picture was taken as well.

What kind of daytime temperature is it during the photos?

I think it was about 60 - 65 that day. The first day of sun after overcast and rain, there was a lot of rain during the night, we thought the weather would be bad, but the sun was out in the morning.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
