I wanted to change the flow of my Fluval Plus One filter. Tank decor was not an option in this tank to help redirect the flow. For under $3, I was able to make a 6" spray bar that diverts the flow in three different angles. The newts seem to appreciate it as now they don't have to fight the strong current in one part of the tank.

How did you go about making it? Did you just use plastic cut-outs into the right shape you needed? Or was it something more technical? Sounds like a nice project, plus from what you said it's pretty cheap too.

Looks like PVC with endcaps to me , lol

Pretty much...They were out of threadless 1/2" male barb, so I had to double up with an adapter. Basically, just cut a piece of 1/2" to desired length. If you go over 8", you will probably need to attach suction cups. Drill 1/16" holes in the pvc in a row on different sides of the pvc. For this tank, I did three sides. I didn't drill the top as if the water gets low, it will spray out, and the newts like to rest on the pipe too. No need for glue, just attach everything firm. I was going to thread the output of the filter, but the walls were too thin. Instead I attached the spray bar with 1/2" I.D. tubing.
