I have finally managed to get my camera working and now have full size and clear pictures of Tobias (leucistic) and Cleveland (wildtype). They have settled into their new home and are loving their food. They couldn't eat the pellets I bought as they were too big for their mouths so I was feeding them on frozen bloodworm. I tried the other day with the pellets and they are managing to eat them now (thank goodness, cause i paid £20 for a massive tub of them. haha!) So i'm feeding them a mixture of the pellets and bloodworm 2 or 3 times a week. They LOVE the bloodworm. I've had them about 3 weeks now and they have both grown about an inch in length.

Please enjoy.

Great pictures, beautiful tank, gorgeous axies! I love the speckled look of your sand, though how deep is it? It looks quite deep in a couple of the photos.

Hi Kerry, Thank you for the lovely comments. My sand is only an inch deep, if that. i disturbed all the sand when i 1st put it in so any air bubbles under it would be released. I actually thought the sand i bought was off-white but turned out to be this speckled colour when wet. I have more pics of the 2 of them which i'll add in a moment.

Agreed, terrific photos. The silk flowers are a nice touch, now I must go out and buy those they look so good, haha :D Your axies are so wide-eyed and precious. I love them at that age, dont you wish you can keep them like that forever?

Thank you Tran for your comments also. I'm very proud of my babies. They are definately super cute at this age. Just can't beleive how quickly they grow!! But I love watching them grow into gorgeous adults.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
