I recently visited my brother and managed some quite successful herping while I was there... I still didn't find any adult Dicamptodon... oh well...

here are some pics from the trip...

Species include... Ensatinas (I believe they were integrades between the Oregon and Painted) These guys are everywhere but always in the worst lit areas for photos...
Pacific Chorus frogs... Many many of them, all bright green accept for the one fellow who was perhaps the most strikingly marked H. regalis I have ever seen... these guys were very cooperative and generally sat still for photos...
Northern Red legged frog... I was happy to find several of these in the same area...
and a Wandering Salamander... the largest I'd ever seen...

I've got more photos but alas I have reached my limit of 8 for this post

Also... This trip had me poking around my own backyard once I got home... here are some pics of a couple of A. lugubris I found in my garden... the one with more spots had an injured front foot... If I'd thought about it I would have put him in my vivarium... as it is I left it up to natural selection.

Yes.. all the frogs were excellent models... they sat wherever I put them and let me shoot away...

the salamanders seem to dislike the limelight as they constantly move to find cover if you try and set them in proper light...

Apologies... I thought I was generalizing enough when I stated a county name...
I didn't think mentioning my own backyard would be prohibited...

I consider myself environmentally ethical... so thanks for the edit...

Sometimes it's a judgment call. I think mentioning a specific school is a bit specific.

I sure did, didn't I ... I didn't even think about it because I was referring to my own property but that WAS too specific....

We'll leave it at Nor-Cal

again apologies and thanks for the edit...
