The first pic is of red dots and swelling and bluish discoloration that cropped up in one day i was feeding everyone last night and they were all just fine apart from the broken finger i guess it is? in the second pic and i know its hard to see but you can maybe just barely see the small lump on the dark ones back too please.. ive posted for the dark one about a week ago and i havent checked today but i haven't heard so much as a peep from any one someone please help me i dont know what to do for them ... they usually live in a 55 gal tank there are 2 white males and one dark male 4 or 5 years old i keep a heater in the tank thats set to about 73 or so this is the tank they have lived in for years the one with the discoloration is now in a kritter keeper obviously to keep it seperate from the others he was having a little difficulty swimming with the swollen leg but was doing alright considering

Replace the********* in the url with image shack . us with no spaces i couldn't get it to work..dont know why

Photos from imageshack are blocked from being posted to this forum. The reason is that their software inserts advertising together with the link to the photo. It would be better to upload the photo directly from your computer.

I downloaded the images, then uploaded them from my computer. They are below.

If I were to take a guess, I'd say "redleg", just based on the appearance. This is something that most exotics vets DO know how to treat. I have no idea about the bump on the second one.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
