Hi, i open this new thread because i'd like to have a pair of bombina orientalis, but it's said it's a bit complicated to sex them :( . I've read a lot of this, but don't wanna be confused.
Did anyone have both photos of male and female in order to see their differences?

Thanks very much. Fernando

Not that complicated, but adults only: webbing between the toes.

Han.

Please describe what we are looking at in the pic and describe the differences in words. The pic by itself just isn't enough. Thanks.

Hi

The pic shows a male Bombina maxima grabbing a female: the webbing between
the toes of his hindleg (above) is far more developed, almost a straight line between the
toe-tips; the webbing between her toe-tips (hindleg below) has deeper curves.

Thank you for the clarification. I will have to look over my Bombina orientalis to see what I have exactly for genders.

My bombina orientalis are all about 1.5-2 inches in size.

I was wondering, are they able to be sexed by this method? Some that i have thought were female have been grabbing other ones, so theyre males.

If i posted a couple pics would it be easier to tell?

Thanks.

Yes, with pics ;)

How would i take pics of them? Just their body over all? Or would i have to get a photo of underneath them?

Thanks.

Best is to take one offt hem (body upperside) and two off their under.
1 under upside,1under undersite.
Then everybody can have á good look.
(mayby you can send the last two to a sexsite :D)

All my toads try to grab this one.

Is it a female or just a male that everyone wants? lol

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
