Hi,

Your axolotl is beautiful but hard to see him/her from the photos much :(

What camera do you have?

And i think he is about 6months-ish but im not sure so mabye dave, kaysie or kerry can help with that.

Here are my axies.

The wild-type is called miniziller.

The white with the big head is fizzle and the white with a small head is aztec.

Hi,

I have a nikon d40x.

Its such an amazing slr!

Its easy to get used to and 10megapixels.

It also comes with a good 18-55mm dx lens!

Great value for money.

The normal d40 comes with the same lens but is 6megapixels.

Sunny I am pleased to report is an absolute gem to own! Hes gottom used to the filter, eats anything I give him, is pretty active! and is very laid back. Hes been the best and is helping me get over my fish I had to put in the freezer this morning =[ VERY sad, I'd almost had him a year.... So now I only have 2 bettas and 1 axolotl but even though no fish will ever replace my little guy, i'm getting another betta, well "saving" another.

The samsung L100 is not a bad camera at all, I have a samsung L200 and am able to get good shots, all you need to do is know how to use your settings better. Also for pictures like this using your macro function is a must.
My avatar picture (on the left under my name) was taken with the L200, the salamander in the picture was just 2" long. It is just a matter of playing with the settings and taking your time to get that perfect shot ... believe me it took a few tries to get that picture.

Sunny is one of my favorite little axolotls! (But I do have a soft spot for the gold ones, hehe.) I like how he looks so happy to see you!

aww thanks guys!
He is always coming over to the side of the tank to give me a big smile. Since I've wanted an axolotl, I've wanted a golden one, they are just so beautiful!

Unfortunetly guys, I don't think i'll ever get a body shot of Sunny as he is just always facing me and smiling! hehe

Here we go, a few from today and also his new tank, still bare but I took out some of the sand and it's cleared up. SUCCESS!!! after many fights, the filter is FINALLY staying sucked onto the wall. I win :D

Just a quick picture of Sunny doing his thing. Normally he sits underneath the filter, flicks his gills and they go almost white! This time he was just sitting underneath it.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
