Tylototriton Verrucosus

Here is an update on the little larvae. They are still small about 1.5 inches. Eating blackworms and brine shrimp. Feels so weird still having newt larvae this time of the year. Can't wait for them to morph so they can become available.

Amazing! How do you care for them all. How many do you have. Trying to take info from other tylo breeders. I am going to try and breed Tylototriton cf kweichowensis. How many eggs can one adult female lay at a time? I will feed the little larvae freshly hatched brine shrimp. I would limit 10 big larvae in a 10 gallon. 20 small larvae in a tupperware container. Does this sound good?

Well my female T. verrucosus laid about 150 eggs. I have a friend that has T. shanjing and his female laid about the same amount. I wouldn't keep 20 larvae together in a tupperware unless it was a huge one. I kept mine in small groups of 5-8 in a medium sized tupperware that was about 4x8. After they became advanced larvae I put the groups into 5 gallon tanks with the same ratio of individuals.

I've raised T. shanjing from eggs and T.verrrucosus. I'm not sure about T. kweichowensis but the larvae from T. verrucosus were tiny, opposite of T. shanjing. The T. shanjing went straight to blackworms and the T. verrucosus had baby brine shrimp for 4 weeks. I do remember both species being very alert as larvae. I assumed they were good hunters from their alertness and kept the groups small with a lot of plants for hiding. I was trying to avoid injuries as much as possible. Good luck with your venture!
