I took 105 pictures. I am not good at it. These were the best... and they aren't very good. The Wild and the Melanoid would not cooperate at all so I included a couple of REALLY bad pictures of them. One where the glass had been wet and then dried and I didn't notice it until the flash went off. There are camera reflections on the glass. I really have to learn to do this.

Hey Mac!

Glad you posted some pics! The axies look like they are enjoying all those plants! You might have better luck if you catch them before feeding time. Once fed, they're done with you!

Are both your lucies GFPs too? I really like the shot of the lucy with the worm. :D

I take about 20 pics at a time just to get 2-3 keepers too! Got plenty with the glass flash and the smear I could have sworn I just wiped off! Operator errors?...Nah, I still blame the camera!

hey mac....they are very cute....they are so chubby...i love the one with the worm as well...well done

I love them!
They are not as bad as you let me think when I read your post =p
And 105 pics of your Axies is just showing that you love them alot. And they seem to look like Axies that get alot of love ^^

I love looking at photos of happy well-cared for axolotl! The more I see the different types of axolotl, the more I want another tank...:D

Cute!

Very VERY cute little ones :)

Only 105? To get 5 or 6 good shots of Sunny I take up to 500 sometimes!! I currently have around 1000 good pictures of him at the moment :)

They look healthy and it looks like a good set up. My son is a real good photographer. He has been giving me some pointers. Of course you know to keep the glass clean but were just to busy to do it. He says be sure the eyes are in focus and the rest takes care of itself. If I want to do a crisp shoot of something it takes quite a bit of time. Other times I just point and shoot.

Keep cool down there in Florida. It is warm here in Pennsylvania.

Shannon... all 4 are GFPs. And I like to blame the camera too. I'm pretty sure the camera can do the job.... I just need to learn to use it. I think I need to ditch the auto focus as sometimes the focus seems to be on the glass rather than the animal. It shoots out a green laser so you can fix it on whatever you want and then it supposedly focuses on that. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work that way all of the time. I need more practice.:D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
