Hi to all
this sunday I have just a bit of time so i decided to show you some photos of my newts.
This is their first home.
notice the cork, I removed it after few weeks. never, never put the cork in the water without first having made him lose all tannins.

Tannins are not bad. In fact as long as concentrations are not too high, they can be very useful as fungal and bacterial inhibitors. Not the most aesthetic thing for some, though...

Azhael, aesthetics is not a problem for me, but water like coffee is too much

Hi, your newts are beautiful.
I like your set-up too - could you describe how you made it? (I mean how you constructed the land area and what materials and substrate you used). Thank you!

hi, Part of land is made with pieces of glass covered with pieces of cork. everything is glued with brown silicone so that everything seems more natural. inside there was a layer of expanded clay, a product for plants that need to drain the water, and a layer of earth for the garden (made from earth, humus, peat and plant remains), the green stuff was wild musk.

some mounth ago I decided that maybe it was better if everything was acquatic so...

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
