Thought it was time for an update and I have now finally named my 2 remaining babies from my 1st batch which I am keeping :D

Mungo is the golden albino & Bongo the wild.

Since taking these photos last week I swear Mungo has doubled in size, that golden is an eating machine and is fast overtaking poor Bongo!

I have kept their tank pretty plain whilst they are still young as for starters these guys poop like I have never seen before so makes it easier cleaning the tank. Have added ina few rocks since the piccies were taken but have some platinum coloured sand at the ready for when they are big enough and a few plans for their tank when the time comes

Anyway here are some piccies for Mungo and then Bongo (nearly 3 months old now).

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
