It's about time I posted some pics and updated you all on how my monsters are going.

It's been a busy month or so with work and celebrating my 21st birthday, but I have been lurking in the shadows!

as some of you may know, I randomly lost Knuckles about a month back and it got me completely of guard and I never did find out why she died, despite my best efforts trying to figure out why.

Lance-Alotl is doing very well, and I think he's now about as big as he will get as he is fast approaching 2 years old.

I do however have another new addition! to the untrained eye, some might mistake my new monster as knuckles but it isn't (it has less toes!) . in-fact, I'm not quite sure what gender it is yet.

my new specimen is a rather large and very chubby melanoid, it's almost a brown colour but I can't seem to get a good shot of this due to the fact that my tank is only very dimly lit.

and now, the pictures! and as always, lots of comments too!

the first picture is of my tank as it is currently, the second is of Lance and the last is of my newest specimen, who is still nameless.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
