I have a theme of naming my axolotls after celebrities. I couldn't stop. I have two new additions to my dorm room, and new friends for Tyra Herman Oprama Banks Bimpson and Enrique Anthony.

First, a story. I've been going to a pet store for a while that I found fed feeder fish to their axies (not quarantined, right from shipped in stock), had large pebbles in the tank of a size that could be eaten along with weirdly sharp small shells, and all of the axolotls had been kept together since being 3 months of age, naturally causing many injuries in their tank. One wild type had no gills on the right side. Never saw it healed. I informed them many times of their neglect, but they ignored me as the person who takes care of them owns axolotls herself. I informed the girl who claimed to know all about them and she ignored me. After going many times and finding they hadn't fixed it, I went to the managers and told them they were likely to lose their stock if they didn't stop neglecting their animals. If not for the sake of the poor things, at least do it to save their sorry butts some money. Today I went in and it was all fixed. I was so happy. So I bought the only Anderson's salamander they had for 90$, and found that she was female. She's a perfect mate for my male andersoni. So, Penelope Cruz is to be with Enrique Anthony once she gets out of quarantine.

Also, I ordered the cutest little golden albino juvie. I named it Drew Barrymore, since I figure the name could go to either sex. It's hard to get pictures of, but I somehow managed.

So, meet the newbies. She's got some scarring on her sides from tank mates, but I'm glad I got her out. Once Penelope is out out quarantine, she'll be bred to Enrique Anthony. And I'll have all the andersoni babies in the world to coo over.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
